Running Remote Code of Conduct

Running Remote is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful experience for every attendee, speaker, sponsor, and team member. This Code of Conduct outlines expectations for behavior and clearly states the consequences of violations. By participating in the event—whether in person or online—you agree to uphold these values.

Our Commitment

We aim to host an event that reflects the best of the global remote work community: inclusive, respectful, curious, and kind. We believe that diverse voices and lived experiences are not just welcomed—they are essential.

Running Remote is a harassment-free zone. Any form of discrimination, harassment, or exclusionary behavior is strictly prohibited, with no exceptions.

Expected Behavior

We ask all participants to:

  • Treat others with respect, kindness, and empathy
  • Listen actively and assume positive intent
  • Use inclusive, people-first language
  • Offer constructive feedback, not personal attacks
  • Respect differing opinions, experiences, and cultures
  • Refrain from disruptive behavior during sessions or activities
  • Follow instructions from staff, volunteers, and venue security

Unacceptable Behavior

We have zero tolerance for:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or threats (verbal, physical, or virtual)
  • Inappropriate or unwanted physical contact
  • Sexually explicit, discriminatory, or demeaning behavior or language
  • Deliberate misgendering or use of offensive pronouns
  • Stalking or sustained disruption of talks, events, or online sessions
  • Unwanted photography or recording without consent
  • Advocating for or encouraging any of the above behavior

This applies equally to all participants—attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, staff, and volunteers.

Reporting & Enforcement

If you witness or experience behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately.

You can:

  • Speak directly to any Running Remote staff member onsite—they will ensure your concern is taken seriously and escalated to the Event Director or designated leadership as appropriate
  • Email us at: info@runningremote.com (for general conduct or support)

All reports will be handled with confidentiality, care, and urgency. Actions we may take include:

  • Verbal or written warnings
  • Immediate removal from the event without refund
  • Reporting to venue security or local authorities if appropriate
  • Banning from future Running Remote events
  • Involving venue security or local authorities where necessary

There are no exceptions to our harassment policy. Everyone deserves a safe space to connect, learn, and thrive.

Accessibility

We are committed to making Running Remote accessible to everyone. If you have any specific needs or requests, contact our team by March 5, 2025 at:

📧 info@runningremote.com

We will do our best to accommodate or offer alternatives that ensure your experience is valuable and inclusive.

Diversity

Remote work succeeds because it brings together individuals from every corner of the world. We welcome and celebrate all backgrounds including race, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, and geography.

We intentionally curate our speaker lineup and community to reflect the breadth of these lived experiences.

Sustainability

We’re building toward a low-waste and low-impact event. From reducing single-use plastics to exploring circular economy solutions, we are learning and evolving with each year.

If you have sustainability suggestions, email info@runningremote.com.

Families Welcome

Work and life are not separate journeys. We proudly offer family-friendly programming, spaces, and one dedicated networking session for parents and future parents. Children are welcome, and we believe they deserve visibility in the future-of-work narrative.

Be Part of the Change

Let’s lead by example. Whether it’s calling someone in with kindness, helping a fellow attendee feel included, or simply showing up with empathy—every action helps create a better space for all of us.

We can’t wait to welcome you to Running Remote 2026. Let’s make it meaningful, together.
