What is Running Remote?

Running Remote is the world’s largest remote work conference for remote team leaders and managers.

Where is the conference taking place in 2023?

In April 2023, we’re taking the Running Remote conference to Lisbon, the buzzing capital of Portugal and a popular European destination for remote workers.

The conference will take place in SUD Lisboa, Lisbon’s most unique venue space, located just 10 minutes away from the city center.

Overlooking the Tagus river, with stunning views of the 25 de Abril Bridge and Cristo Rei, the venue features two adjacent buildings with ample halls, picturesque terraces, and an infinity pool. Expect top-class catering and audio-visual content delivery!

Why should I attend Running Remote 2023?

If you are serious about building & scaling your remote team, you can’t miss Running Remote.

  • Learn advanced and actionable strategies to both manage and grow your remote team
  • Explore every aspect of going remote and heading towards the future of work
  • Learn how to deal with remote work challenges, maintain a good work-life balance and live mindfully when working remotely
  • Personally meet and connect with our stellar conference speakers, special guests, and attendees from all over the globe
  • Running Remote has been around since 2018, long before remote work got hyped up by the pandemic. We are the world’s first and only event entirely focused on remote work as a niche

Since 2018, we’ve had 8 conferences, nearly 6,000 attendees, and 308 leaders on our stages from companies like Microsoft, Hubspot, Atlassian, Gitlab, or Slack.

Who is the ideal attendee for Running Remote 2023?

Leaders from small to medium-sized companies and startups make up most of our audience, mostly coming from SaaS, Consulting, and HR. That said, in 2022, nearly 10% of our audience was made up of companies with 500 or more seats.

We welcome CEOs, Founders, VPs, Directors, and Heads, but even smaller managers, employees, and freelancers could benefit from our event.

Why Lisbon?

Lisbon is becoming one of the most popular destinations for remote companies, making it a true mecca for online work. With relatively low prices, wonderful weather, and access to the beach, Lisbon also offers you whatever you might need from coworking spaces to culture and entertainment. Not to mention the amazing food!

Almost every major European city has direct and cheap access to Lisbon, and it’s only a 6-hour direct flight from New York City.

What’s not to love?

Do you video-record the talks?

Yes, all sessions are recorded and uploaded to our sessions library. You can access recordings from all our talks over the last few years here: https://runningremote.com/library/

What is a hybrid event?

At Running Remote, you can experience the best of both worlds. Our hybrid event offers the opportunity to attend in person or to participate remotely, without missing out on value. Whether it’s from the comfort of your own home or from the venue, you can take part in the event without ever missing a beat!

For example, even if you have an in-person ticket, you don’t need to worry about missing out on talks if you feel like going back to your hotel for a quick rest. You can always follow the talks on your phone in the meantime.

Virtual attendees can ask questions in real time and have their own networking events while in-person attendees are having lunch.

And the best part – with our conference app (that we will send you closer to the date of the event), you can interact with your fellow attendees, whether they’re in Lisbon or not!

How do you address diversity & inclusion?

At the Running Remote conference, we prioritize diversity and inclusion in order to make sure everyone feels welcome and included. We are committed to achieving gender and racial balance on stage and have been able to do that with success in the last 3 conferences.

We also strive to create a safe and inclusive environment for our attendees and proud to address the topic openly on our conference stages.

Can I earn SHRM professional development credits (PDCs) by attending the Running Remote conference?

Yes, HR professionals can now earn continuing education credits for the SHRM certification by attending our Running Remote conference.

Earn 1 credit per 1 hour of conference learning time.

Do you have an official conference hotel?
Definitely!  Our official partner hotel for the 2023 Running Remote Hotel is the breathtaking Pestana Palace Lisboa, only a short walk away from the conference venue.  This is the hotel where most of the speakers and attendees will be located.  Pestana Palace Lisboa, which is a restored 19th-century palace, is a 5-star hotel located in the Belém district of Lisbon – only a 25-minute walking distance to the conference venue. The hotel is a great place to relax between the two days and network with like-minded professionals in the many beautiful common areas. And of course – all Running Remote ticket holders get a 15% discount.  Use this link to book your room now.
How do I get to the venue?

From Pestana Palace, the conference venue (SUD Lisboa) is only 25 minutes on foot. Alternatively, you can get to the venue by bus or by car in 15 minutes.

Public transport is excellent in Lisbon, and you can also use Uber to get around the city.

If you’d like to book a shuttle service, please contact us at info (at) runningremote.com

Is food provided during the conference? Do you take dietary preferences into consideration?

We’re serving a buffet lunch, giving you the option to choose your preferences.

To get a vibe of the venue, check out SUD Lisboa’s Instagram page.

Where do I find the schedule with start and finish times?

Our schedule is now final! Please find all that’s waiting for you on this page: https://runningremote.com/schedule/

Our two stages are connected by a mini-footbridge overlooking the river, so you can easily join in on a different session at any time. If you do so, please make sure you enter rooms quietly, without disturbing other attendees.

We highly recommend checking out our 2023 Schedule so you can pick the sessions in advance that you are the most interested in and prioritize accordingly.

We have great Wi-Fi throughout the entire venue, and you can expect a dedicated silent working zone and a designated calling area.

Does the event have a cloakroom?

Yes, you will find a cloakroom on the ground floor of the venue.

When does registration start and where can I pick up my badge?

Registration is between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM on both the 25th and the 26th of April.

We urge you to come early: we dive directly into the content with the first talk starting at 9:10 AM on both days.

To enter, you don’t require a visa for stays in the Schengen area for under 90 days and within 180 days, but you’ll need a passport that is valid for 3 months beyond the date of intended departure. Non-EU citizens might be asked for sufficient proof of funds and a return plane ticket.
