Julie Armendariz currently serves as a SR HR Partner at Block, and supports some of the executive engineering teams within CashApp. Prior to Block, she was an HR Director leading teams for 10 years at companies like GitLab and Uber Freight. She has worked 100% remote since January 2017, and is an advocate for remote work. Julie received her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M and her Master’s degree from The University of Texas at Dallas. She is SPHR certified (Senior Professional of Human Resources), as well as a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Outside of work, Julie volunteers with adults with special needs, and serves on the Board of Directors for a nonprofit organization that assists single moms and their children. Julie and her husband live in the North Dallas area, and are the “proud parents” of a 50 pound Spurred African Tortoise named Timmy, who lives in their backyard and is a celebrity in the neighborhood. When they are not spending time with family and friends, they love to travel – her goal is to visit at least 100 countries and she is halfway there!
