Owl Labs is a company that develops and builds IoT video conferencing devices. The company provides Meeting Owl – an intelligent video conferencing device that centers virtual conferencing around remote participants for a near face-to-face experience. The company’s hardware is an all-in-one device that offers a thermos-shaped, robotic video camera that captures a 360-degree view of a meeting space and automatically shifts its point of focus to show whoever is talking in the meeting and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 processor, enabling users to improve their web-based cross-coastal communications by making it natural. Owl Lab’s mission is to create the inclusive meeting experience remote employees deserve. Their products enable productive collaboration across multiple offices, large conference rooms, stand-ups and design reviews, and classrooms and seminars. It will be one of the first IoT devices for the company conference room. Over 30,000 companies use the Meeting Owl to support their teams including RXBAR, Ogilvy, PennState, and others.

Founded in 2014, Owl Labs was seeded by Playground Global Ventures and was the first company to join Playground Global, founded by Android co-creator Andy Rubin to take advantage of the IoT hardware advances brought by the smartphone revolution. Owl Labs has deep roots both from iRobot and HubSpot. Starting with cofounders Max and Mark, a total of six Owl Labs employees are iRobot alumni, making robotics and hardware a strong element of the company’s DNA. Karen Rubin and Rebecca Corliss, two of Owl Labs’ early leadership hires, were both among the 50 first employees at HubSpot. Owl Labs itself is a hybrid team with a strong mix of in-person and remote teammates, all together working in support of remote employees everywhere. They are part of the ‘Work From Anywhere’ movement and regularly publish reports on the state of remote work.
