FlexJobs was created in 2007 to provide a trusted, more effective, friendly, and overall better way to find professional remote and flexible jobs. They were founded by job space pioneer Sara Sutton after she had been looking for a flexible job after starting her family. She realized that millions of others were just as frustrated by the ads, scams, and inefficiencies on other job boards that wasted her time in finding a good flexible job, and so she decided to create the solution she was looking for. It wasn’t their original intention, but somehow FlexJobs has become a leader in the flexible job movement that’s currently disrupting the traditional workforce.
FlexJobs first goal is to remove the key pain point of finding great remote and flexible job opportunities that are typically harder and more-time consuming to find anywhere else. They work with thousands of companies who post flexible jobs directly to their site, but their “super powers” really come from their team of excellent, educated, trained researchers who scour hundreds of online job resources every day (including industry blogs, employer sites, reliable job boards, and more)… so you don’t have to! When they find a job listing that appears promising, they dig in for more critical evaluations. If it passes that phase, then the researchers find the most direct way for you to apply to that job (ideally on the employer’s site, but not always). Only then is the job added to their site, along with staff-written job summaries, company descriptions, company headquarters, and other useful information.
